Biblical Reflections: Jeremiah 23:23-24

Jeremiah 23:23-24 – Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth saith the LORD?

We sometimes are fooled into believing that God is either uninterested or uncaring. Some even go further to assert that He doesn’t exist at all. Despite the innumerable cloud of witnesses of testimony and the natural world around us our eyes are darkened by our sins and those of others. David wrote, “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there” (Psalm 139:8). God is never far. Our sins separate us, but only so long as we fail to confess them and repent. Then, and only then, do we find that God was there the whole time. The all seeing eye of Providence is a terror to the wicked but a boon to those who seek Him. Confess to Him, and you will see.
