Biblical Reflections: Colossians 3:12-14

Colossians 3:12-14 – Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

One of the mistakes that God’s children make is to forget or neglect the knowledge that we are ordained and saved to holiness. Holiness is also seen as an impossible task. While being holy like Jesus in His perfection may be impossible on this side of heaven eternal, it is not impossible for Christ’s disciples to practice purity and holiness. Holiness is good, and it is the path to joy.

The Christian life is largely its own reward. Following Jesus leads us into the Light and Life. It is the true good life that so many people want. Sadly, too many have chosen what Jesus described as the broad way that leads to death. Sin always leads down this path, and even the saints are tempted. Pray to God to deliver you from the evil and away from temptation. Live the good life.
