Biblical Reflections: Romans 6:3-4

Romans 6:3-4 – Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

It is easy to feel beaten. I suppose nothing pleases the Devil more than knowing he has convinced us of a lie.  In fact the saints are more than conquerors through Christ.  How is this so?

Physically we may (and likely will) experience pain and suffering.  However the life that is present in a believer is spiritual and not physical.   It is an extension or reflection of the eternal life of God.  Therefore it cannot be destroyed.  Our problem is that we cling to the pleasures of sin instead of the treasures of heaven.

The Apostle encourages, even commands, Christ’s disciples to walk in newness of life putting away former sins.  Only when deny the flesh and encourage the spirit do we realize the abundant life God intended.
