Biblical Reflections: Jeremiah 2:19

Jeremiah 2:19 – Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts.

The old adage that says ‘Your sins will find you out’ is rather true. Sin is a curse in itself. Disobedience to God’s Word is not simply inconvenient, it is deadly. For this reason alone we should be more diligent.

Think about it. Could sins ever lead to anything good? Of course not, only actions leading to God, the fountain of life, could ever lead to any lasting form of life or joy. Like Abraham we must walk by faith, trusting the Lord lest we confound ourselves in sin like a ship upon the rocks.

Through Christ and His Spirit, all believers have the hope of life through repentance (Acts 11:18). Jesus Christ opened the door of life, and anyone who believes in Him eagerly seeks Him, because the Holy Spirit draws us, even drags us, toward the Lord to His life sustaining waters. Pray to the Father today to deliver you from evil and away from temptation.
