Psalm 51:10 – Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
There is nothing in the world more relieving than the knowledge that you are saved. Whether it’s being saved from mounting debt or saved from a debilitating illness, salvation is a blessing. Best of all is the salvation of the soul and spirit from death.
Like the prodigal son awakening to his sorry plight, the newly reborn heart and soul of a believer recognizes the foolishness of sin and yearns for real and permanent salvation. King David, the sweet psalmist of Israel, too ached for such salvation. He knew his impoverished state before the Almighty. Like us the king wanted a clear conscience and a real experience of righteousness from God. So he prayed.
Real and permanent salvation can only come from the Eternal God of Heaven and Earth. In fact, Jesus was born to show us God’s salvation. He was, as Job said, the Redeemer who stood in the latter day upon the earth (Job 19:25). He is the means and end of salvation (John 14:6). His perfect life and sacrifice satisfied God’s holy justice and mercy (Hebrews 9:11-15). His image is our goal and destiny (Romans 8:29).
We cannot do it ourselves. Dead men do not talk. Dead men do not walk. We need grace.
Humble yourself and trust in the Savior to redeem you from sin today and everyday. Jesus paid it all!
