Colossians 2:6-7 – As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
One of the saddest things in the world to me is the division within the Church. Even though we are admonished to avoid division and dispute by the Holy Scriptures, we still let pride, laziness, and ignorance dominate our lives (Romans 16:17, 1 Corinthians 1:10-13, Romans 14:1). While I know that our sinful nature is the culprit in this case, it only highlights to me again the need for reliance upon God above all things to guide and chasten us.
When we try to mix our opinions with the stated will of God in the Scriptures, we must remember to pause and consider if we are headed toward God or away from Him. It good to remember that He Does not move.
A number of years ago it became popular to wear WWJD bracelets to remind the wearer to consider what Jesus would do in a given situation. I suppose this trend was helpful for some in the same way that it was helpful for the Israelites to have the Word on their person and written on the doorposts of their homes. Whatever you need to do to remember the faith handed down by the saints of old, do it! Question your assumptions. Do not let your liberty become your prison!
