Galatians 6:2 – Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
When asked which was the greatest commandment, Jesus famously said that you shall love the Lord with all your heart, all of your soul and all of your mind. Furthermore, He continued on to tell them that the second greatest commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves. (Matthew 22:37-40). Most every Christian has heard these words, but do you take the time to consider what they mean?
Love, the sacrificial dedication to someone else’s needs, is the real answer to the problems in your life, your family, your community, and your country. Love is the one thing that will ever endure yet there is such a false scarcity of it. Being the embodiment of God’s attributes in the flesh, Christ exhibits love in every corner. Shouldn’t we?
Jesus declared the Truth in love. He healed the sick in love. He bore the shame and ridicule heaped on Him by false accusers out of loving forbearance. Love was the reason the Savior endured the cross for our sins. Love.
The disciples understood this Truth profoundly and gave their lives dedicated to the One who loved them supremely. For this reason we should love one another also and bear one another’s burdens. Indeed, this is the royal law of Christ (James 2:8).
