Biblical Reflections: Psalm 90:2

Psalm 90:2 – Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

The Psalms were originally written to praise God and encourage God’s people to faithfulness. Few things in the Truth of God’s Word are as comforting and assuring as the evidence of God’s eternal nature. He has always existed and He shall always exist. This is the essence of His name: I AM.

By His grace, God shares His life with His children. His eternity is shared with believers through the gift of faith, and as we exercise that faith, we draw closer to Him. Like a wellspring of everlasting life in the desert, Jesus Christ gives His disciples peace and sweet rest (John 4:14). Drink deeply.

Dearest God of Heaven, Eternal and All-wise Father, we praise You for mercy and love! Draw us to You in this dry land that we may drink from the fountain that never shall run dry as we rest upon the holy hill of Zion. Amen.
