Biblical Reflections: Romans 8:15

Romans 8:15 – For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! In the Old Testament, God revealed the Commandments to Moses while the children of Israel waited in fear at the base of the mountain. Darkness, lightning and thunder covered the mountain, and death was assured to anyone who dared touch the holy mount (Exodus 19:1-13). In this revelation of God we find the dreaded embodiment of the Judge.

While God is worthy of fear in every sense of the word, the child of God, saved by grace through the blood of Christ, can look to the dreaded Judge without fear of condemnation (Romans 8:1). We are His beloved children, and while we should reverence the Heavenly Father, we can have confidence in His mercy. Call on your Father today! He is listening.
