Biblical Reflections: Psalm 121:2

Psalm 121:2 – My help cometh from the Lord , which made heaven and earth.

Joshua once told the people of Israel to decide whom they would serve.  The choice was either the God of their fathers or the gods worshipped by other men.  Jehovah, the God of their fathers had proven Himself the miracles and caring compassion again and again.  The impotent gods of other men had no power as they were false. (Joshua 24:1-25)

The blessing and consequences of this decision are before us today.  If we recognize and acknowledge that we serve the Creator of heaven and earth with our hearts, then we should serve Him with our hands.  To do anything otherwise jeopardizes the joy such a relationship brings.  I mean who would spit in the face of their loving Father?  Sadly, many have done so.

Where does your ultimate help come from?  Is it friends?  Is it family?  Well, where did they get the motive and means to assist you?  It is simple.  “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). My help comes from the Lord.
