Biblical Reflections: Psalm 85:2

Psalm 85:2 – Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

Where would we be without forgiveness?  Guilt would mount up to overwhelm us.  Lasting comfort comes from knowing through the Holy Spirit that Jesus came not simply to aid those that were merely mistaken in their way, but rather He came to truly save that which was utterly lost in sin.

The psalmist used Selah here to indicate a pause.  It is unknown whether this word had any significant meaning outside of the Psalms, but any pause in music or in life is a moment to reflect and consider.

We should take time to reflect upon God, His majesty, His sovereignty, and His Holiness.
