Biblical Reflections: Proverbs 20:22

Proverbs 20:22 – Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.

I believe you know that the Bible tells us that vengeance belongs to the Lord.  He is the just and impartial Judge.  The Scriptures also say that He is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34-35).  He does not regard a person’s status, ethnicity, wealth, education, or professional achievements.  On the contrary, God rewards those those that diligently seek him by faith (Hebrews 11:6).

When we submit in faith to God’s will, we find the grace and peace promised present with us. We can release the need for recompense to God knowing that He will do it better that us. He is not limited by mundane means.

Look at the example of the Exodus. God used miraculous means through plagues to turn the tide in Israel’s favor. Just wait upon the Lord. He will repay.
