Isaiah 26:12 – Lord , thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
Give credit where credit is due. The Lord is our Creator and Sustainer. Any blessings we enjoy, any good that we do, is ultimately to His credit, because as we observe and read and understand, mankind is bent naturally to sin, destruction, and death. Therefore, to God be the glory.
The Old Testament demonstrates over and over the depravity of man. Even the best saints in that former time were plagued with sin. Isaiah tells us plainly that “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Even our best is filthy compared to the absolute holiness of God. Thus, we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
Praise God that He has a people that He has set aside to restore to glory and holiness. By God’s gracious mercy, “we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Therefore, the children of God should be known for their good works to His credit, His glory.
James tells us that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). Glorify your Father today! Give Him your best.
