Numbers 23:19 – God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good
When you think of God, what comes to mind? Do you imagine a stately old man on a shining throne? Do you think of the vastness of the universe and the evident power of the Creator? Or do you consider the wind and how it moves and comes and goes with start or end? The Bible gives us few clues to Gods appearance. In fact, Jesus said that no man has at any time seen God the Father.
God is a Spirit (John 4:24). He is not a man. He is not limited to our weaknesses and sinful nature. So He has no need to repent of mistakes and sins. Even when the Bible speaks of God and repentance it refers to a turning like on a paved road. God is not surprised or found unprepared.
Isaiah wrote, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). An implacable Spirit, God’s will be glorified. He is utterly holy, and His promises are sure.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9-10). You can take that to the bank or rather heaven.
