2 Thessalonians 3:5 – And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Well, I believe a plain reading of the Bible reveals that the chicken came first followed by the egg. For many, a more difficult question is who loved first, God or man? The Bible answers this question as well. Today’s passage is one of many that speaks to this concern.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). When we do anything good, we should give credit to God. He loved his children even when they were lost and dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1). Therefore, we owe Him everything.
Understanding that all goodness flows from God, we can easily establish our need for Him also to direct us to Him in love, granting us patience for the long wait for Jesus to set everything right. In essence we could say that we need God to need God. He is the source of our live and our hope lies withe Him.
