Lamentations 3:22-23 – It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
I once had a discussion with a brother who said that as a minister I must realize that we are all sinners, including pastors. I replied that not only was I aware of this fact, I just might be more aware of that truth than most people.
No one has ever lived that did not need the redeeming blood of Christ to atone for their sins. We need the mercy of God every moment of every day, and perhaps Jeremiah knew this better than anyone. Living in a time of great sin and falling away from the Lord, the weeping prophet mourned for himself and his people.
I fear that we may be living in just such a time. Many people are ignoring the lessons of Scripture today and failing to seek the Lord. It is truly only by mercy that we have not yet faltered like ancient Israel.
As children of God, we must remember the Lord and acknowledge Him. Look beyond the failures of yesterday. Worry not about tomorrow. You have been saved for just such a day as today. Do something wonderful.
