Psalm 133:1 – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
E pluribus unum. One of the earliest mottos associated with the United States is often translated, Out of many one. The fledgeling United States, in open rebellion against the most powerful earthly army, needed to stick together. Without unity they would collapse.
Jesus said that even the Devil understands that “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand…”
(Matthew 12:25). Teamwork matters. It is often difficult and frequently frustrating, but we can do more together than apart. When we cooperate, we can do wonders.
For this reason we must work together, worship together, and abide with one another to best meet the challenges of life. Jesus Christ established the Church for this purpose, to love and uphold each other. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35).
“Let brotherly love continue” (Hebrews 13:1).
