1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The old adage, “Confession is good for the soul,” could not be more true. Sin is like a disease that we bring upon ourselves. While Jesus Christ removed the sins of His people as far as the east is from the west, we cannot fully enjoy the present effects of this salvation until we confess them to the Lord.
Confession of sin is for us to acknowledge our failure to love of the Lord and our fellow creatures and our need of God and His grace. God already knows. So why do we hold on to our shame and pain?
Finally, confession is a way of life. Not a one time event, confession should be a continual practice of Christ’s disciples all the rest of their natural life. Only by confessing and reprinting of sin, can we hope to enjoy the blessing of God’s heavenly kingdom reign. Otherwise we are in rebellion against the King and His kingdom.
“Honour all men . Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king” (1 Peter 2:17)
