Mouths and Meditation – Psalm 19:14

Psalm 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

How important are your words and thoughts?  The answer from today’s Scripture is clear.  These things matter.
Jesus said, “Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man” (Matthew 15:17-18).  You see, the heart and mouth are tied together.  What we say, we think, and what we think, we feel, and these actions impact what we do with our hands.

If we cannot get control of our thoughts and speech, we will struggle to ever submit to the Lord and enjoy the blessings of His Kingdom.  “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” (James 4:7-8).
