Psalm 116:9 – I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
It is my privilege today to officiate the memorial service of a beloved saint. This dear sister has been a faithful disciple of Christ for more years than I have been blessed to live, and we will miss her. She has gone to dwell in the land of the living.
There are countless assurances in the Scriptures for those near death and for those mourning the loss of a loved one. The best comfort is in knowing that our departed loved one is in the hands of God. One of best assurances we can leave for those left behind is a life well lived in reverence of God waiting upon Him. This the ultimate gift we can leave those we love.
King David was acquainted with hardship, and he also knew folly and sin. However, he trusted in the Lord and His promises. I hope you can leave behind a legacy of faith. Like David we have all fallen short of the glory of God, but by grace we are saved through faith, a gift of God.
While we dwell among men, let us live by faith looking forward to the day when this mortal form will give way to immortality in the land of light.
