Hosea 6:1-3 – Come, and let us return unto the Lord : for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
Does your zeal for God wax and wane? Did you just say, “Yes?” I thought so. We must admit that all of us struggle to maintain drive and enthusiasm. Sadly though this attitude leads to sliding back from the abundant life we can experience through obedience today.
Jesus practically repeated this concept when He said, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). And again when He said, “…This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3).
The life God intends for His people requires us to live in faith, trusting in His Spirit and His Word to guide our behavior in righteousness. We are fooling ourselves every time we settle for anything short of the glory of God. Reach, and keep on reaching. Follow the Lord into life.
