Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. –Proverbs 8:34
As I sit waiting in the labor and delivery room for our newest child to be born, I cannot help but look to the Lord for patience and confidence. Today we await the birth of our forth child, and tomorrow I turn forty years old. What a day!
It is a good day when we recognize the work and plan of God unfolding before us. Like a Father who goes to the field or the office while we play, He is working all around us everyday without us really recognizing it most of the time. Thank God that He does not stop when we are not looking.
As and when we wait upon Him, our Father in Heaven is patient and loving to give us the attention we crave. Our part is so often to wait upon the Lord, and it is times like this that we learn that those who wait upon the Lord are first to receive a blessing, because they are there at the door watching and waiting.
So I wait upon the Lord in joyful expectation.
