Happy – 2 Chronicles 9:7

2 Chronicles 9:7 – Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

Are you happy?   More than happy, are you joyful?  If so, praise GOD!  If not, then why aren’t you happy and full of joy?  I imagine there may be many reasons.  You may be struggling with sin or the consequences of sin.  You may be undergoing a trial of your faith.  Or you may simply be depressed by loss or the sadness you see day to day.   Whatever the reason, I want you to know that happiness can be found in service to the King.

Like you, I have struggled with all of the things mentioned above.  I am a sinner saved by the grace of God alone.  I have experienced trials of faith that left me wrung out, and I have also experienced the deep sadness of of loss and depression.  What I learned was that all of these periods end.  There is light in the morning.   Happiness returns to us as we seek to serve our LORD.

King Solomon’s servants and soldiers, cooks and choirs all served with gladness, because they recognized the greatness of their king and the wisdom of his rule.  It was the golden age of Israel.  Solomon was far from sinless, but he ruled his people well.

Today, Christians have the same opportunity to serve a wise and compassionate king, Jesus Christ.  He is oir great and wonderful sovereign Lord.  Unlike any earthly ruler or elected official, we can trust Him and depend on Him to lead us in a way that is always best for us and everyone around us.  Every day in the Kingdom of God is the golden age.

I challenge you today to find our just how wise and compassionate is Jesus.  I believe you will find service to Him makes you free and happy.
