Ephesians 1:3-6 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In case you woke up this morning feeling grumpy and ungrateful, have a second look at the passage above. All those who truly trust in Jesus Christ, have something to shout about. If we have nothing else, then we still have His amazing Grace to magnify and praise.
The Apostle Paul began many of his letters to the churches with similar reminders of the sovereign, indisputable, immutable gracious salvation of God to change us from sinful to sin-free glorified creatures enfolded into the divine family of God. While our experience of full salvation remains incomplete in this flesh, we share the hope of eternal life in holy communion with the Creator.
So, we should praise the Lord like the Apostle, saying, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ…” He has chosen, predestined, and accepted all of His children not according to their works but through the glorious grace of His mercy made possible by the equally amazing sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Until we see Him face to face, let us glorify Him. Or as I recently read, until the door is opened, let’s praise Him in the hallway. Amen.
