And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. – Luke 2:47
Meditation: We need answers. There are so many challenges and quandaries in life. In order to tackle each day, the best approach is one at a time. Jesus said, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” (Matthew 6:34). The Lord did not mean for us to avoid planning. Rather, He wanted us to realize the failure in wringing our hands about things we cannot change in the future.
Jesus, the Living Word of God, always has answers. Even when that answer is Not right now or Follow me, He has provided answers to life’s biggest problems. As a youth, Jesus demonstrated the eternal, divine nature within Him in the replies given to the “experts” in the Temple. These doctors of the Law of Moses were astonished by the wisdom of this child. Where did He get such knowledge? How can He know the solutions to the toughest issues?
Are you astonished? If not, then I suspect that you are not sufficiently familiar with what He said. Everyone who met the Lord was impacted by Him. Whether they loved Him or hated Him, no one could call Jesus of Nazareth weak or unimportant. It was because of His growing influence that the Jewish authorities called for his crucifixion. They did not like His answers, but they could not deny the power of them.
Call to Action: Write down your biggest questions. Now start a study of the Bible to see what answers you find. Ask your Pastor or Bible Study leader for help if needed, but see what you find. You will be astonished by the answers.
