Meditation: I am so happy to know that God heals the sick. By the Creator’s providential care, we have bodies that can heal, and Jesus proved again and again that He heals the sicknesses of our bodies as well as our hearts miraculously by His grace.
While we await the fulfillment of eternity, we struggle with the weaknesses of the flesh. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians reveals that that he suffered from some malady that he sought the Lord to remedy three times, but finally the Apostle was told that God’s grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). He will raise us up and strengthen our steps (Isaiah 40:31). We should rejoice therefore in our reliance upon our Heavenly Father. It is that reliance that keeps us close to Him.
Therefore the relief we seek may not be the relief we receive. The Lord promises rest, but that rest is in Him and not on us.
Call to Action: Consider your weaknesses, and think about how those weaknesses have brought closers to God. Then you can thank the Lord and rejoice in all things knowing that His grace is sufficient now and forever. Amen.
