What is good – Micah 6:8

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? – Micah 6:8

Meditation:  There a few passages in the Bible that encapsulate the direction of God.  This verse from the prophet Micah is one.  Jesus echoed this idea in teaching that the chief commandments are to love God and secondly to love our neighbors.  Imagine a world where these two commandments guide every action.  The word that comes to mind to describe this world is heaven.

Indeed, in eternal heaven hereafter, doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God will surely be simpler.  However, this verse is aimed at our present life as are Jesus’s admonitions.  We must seek Him spiritual kingdom here and now to find justice, mercy, and the humble quiet of God’s presence.

Micah’s admonition is like all of God’s direction.  It is for our benefit.  What God-fearing believer does not want to do justly, love mercy and walk with God?

Call to Action:  Today’s call to action is simple.  Do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.  Let God take care of everything else.
