Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12
Meditation: The exuberance of youth is fun to observe. As a father of four, I am blessed to see my children laugh and play, learn and grow, as they observe the wonders of Creation. I have learned from them at least as much as they have learned from me, and they have reminded me of the joy of life. They have given me greater reasons for work, endurance, and patience since they have taught to live for more than myself.
Paul admonished Timothy to live boldly for Christ ministering to those who may look down on his youth. Youth is a great resource. Youth brings energy and zeal that many older disciples either envy or misunderstand, but Christ told us that we must become like children to enter His spiritual kingdom. Only with the relative innocence of a child, can we appreciate and enjoy the full blessings of God.
Call to Action: Enjoy youth. If you are young or simply feel young at heart, thank God for this blessing. If you have young children or grandchildren, bless them with a godly example and enjoy their energy and excitement. Laugh with them and cry with them. We will all be young when we see Jesus face to face.
