Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. – Psalm 97:10
Meditation: Evil is real, and as Christians, we should avoid doing evil at every turn. “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil (1 Peter 3:10-12).
Self-preservation is no excuse for committing evil, as the Lord is our defender and avenger. We are then free to pursue good with all our hearts and enjoy the presence of God in our hearts. What is good? “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)
Call to Action: Be a force for good today despite the winds of culture. Watch out for evil and the appearance of evil. Avoid evil like a poisonous snake.
