I Shall Not Be Moved – Psalms 16:8

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. – Psalms 16:8

Meditation:  One of our greatest mistakes is wanting to be in front or first.  Being first means leadership, and we are often unprepared and unable to lead.  As children we need parents to go before us guiding and directing our way.  As students we need teachers able to enlighten us with subjects we often believe beyond us.  As children of God, we especially need Him to be in front of us clearing the way and showing us the path away from sin toward righteousness.  If we insist on being in front, we will ruin so many opportunities for greater success.
The psalmist understood the need for putting God’s desires before our own.  Jesus taught the disciples that those who put others first will actually be blessed with the blessings expected for being first (Mark 9:35).  God’s Word tells us,  “A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit” (Proverbs 29:23).

Only those who consistently put their trust in the Lord will have the kind of success promised by His Word.  Peace, Joy, and Righteousness under the King logically only applies to those who humble themselves to His service.

Call To Action:  Read Psalm 34 today.  Taste and see that the Lord is indeed good to His people.  Put Him before you in all things and you will be as immovable as awall.

Bro. Jason, I love the picture you painted with these words – “As children of God, we especially need Him to be in front of us clearing the way and showing us the path away from sin toward righteousness.” Having Him clearing my path is a comfort and joy!

  2. Thought it won’ludt to give it a shot. I was right.
