Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken. – Jeremiah 13:15
Meditation: Most of us are not good listeners. We would rather be heard than hear others. This extension of natural selfishness is not surprising, but it is one of the most prevalent and annoying attributes. Therefore, the prophet tells us to give ear to the LORD, defying the nature of our old selves in pursuit of God’s Word.
“Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry” (Psalm 34:11-15).
Do you want your prayers to be heard? If so, then please brothers and sisters, listen to the LORD. Do not full of pride and empty of God’s will. Rather be humble an full of the Spirit!
Call To Action: Consider Galatians 5:19-25. The Apostle Paul makes it clear in this passage that while the Law is fulfilled in Christ, even so the Kingdom of God is not for adulterers, murderers, drunkards and like sinners. On the contrary, the Kingdom of God is designed for those walking with the Spirit bearing virtuous fruit. Listen for the voice of God. Look to His Word for guidance and resist you natural impulses toward pride and selfish ambition.
