The Lord Hath Called Me – Isaiah 49:1

Isaiah 49:1Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
When Jesus was born, God’s plan of salvation was near completion. The mention of Christ’s name has power even today to inflame the hearts of men. Jesus’s Gospel message has now been spread to the glory of God the ends of the earth. But before the Son was established, God the Father had declared the name of the Son and the Anointed One of Israel for generations. To Mary and Joseph, the angel to call the babe Jesus for He would save His people from their sins.
What do you call Him? Savior? Lord? King? Redeemer? All these names and more are owed to the one Who died for our sins. One day all will kneel before Him. Only by the name of Jesus Christ may men be saved. There is power in the name.
Whatever you call Him, I hope you honor the Lord by whom we all have purpose, meaning, and existence. May you resolve to love Him more and call upon Him earnestly in the New Year.
