Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord – Romans 12:11
Who remembers the Energizer Bunny ads? The cute bunny drummed his way into televisions never slowing or letting up the pounding beat which seemed to say, “I will never stop. I will never run out of juice.” However, I have owned many Energizer batteries, and they do not have infinite energy. Neither do you and I.
A big obstacle to following God’s will day to day is weariness, but this is often because of our interpretation of God’s will. He knows us and he knows that we do not have endless energy or resources on our own. Furthermore, He also tells us to come to the Savior and rest. Too often we try to do it all on our own, we we were never meant to. We were made to work with God.
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:29-31).
When you rise up to serve the Lord sisters and brothers, remember first to be fervent in Spirit. You serve the Lord. It will make all the difference.
